COAL - A Vast American Resource

Our recurrent oil problems and increasing dependence on foreign oil sources to fuel the American economy seems to many a problem without a solution. Part of the solution is better and more environmentally friendly utilization of our nation's coal deposits.

Environmentalists argue that coal is 'dirty' - a fossil fuel we should stop using but that doesn't stop them from using oil (another fossil fuel) in the form of gasoline to fuel their personal vehicles.

Reality means that you understand that major changes usually come slowly.

Major changes that occur rapidly are very often the result of major disasters, economic and political upheavals, including international and civil wars.

The nation must move toward the increased utilization of renewable or sustainable resources like solar, wind, tidal, and geothermal power - so called 'clean' energy sources.

We must move toward increasing 'green' energy sources but this increase must be deliberate and graduated.
