Americans Against Food Taxes
From Nofoodtaxes.com - January 25th, 2011:
Taxes do not make people healthier. Making smart, educated decisions about diet and exercise do. A new tax will not teach children healthy lifestyles or change their behavior. There is a smarter way to keep our kids healthy, like educating them about diet and exercise. Moms and dads are responsible for taking care of their kids and they deserve our appreciation for the good job they do. Taxing parents and families is not going to help. It's only going to add to their struggles in this economy. Higher taxes are not the answer and government should not use them to try and do parents' jobs.
Comment:
Special taxes on certain foods to 'regulate' behavior?
All that will happen is that people will pay more taxes because they will no dissuade people from drinking their pop or soda, or nibbling on a sweat snack.
More 'special' taxes means more regulatory burden for small businesses who will need to track each soft drink bottle sold to ensure that the taxes were paid.
What is next? Checking to see who buys the soft drinks and snack cakes and instituting an 'obesity risk tax' on them or their family?
BIG BROTHER is out there and wants to tell you what, when, and how to eat.
